Pre-Layoff Workshops
When layoffs become necessary, it is important to communicate clearly to affected workers how to receive the benefits, resources and services that are available. Ideally Workforce Network's Rapid Response Team has an opportunity to hold a Pre-Layoff Workshop at the Employer's location before any layoffs occur.
A Pre-Layoff Workshop involves Workforce Network and its partners making presentations about the resources and services to dislocated workers. Usually the following Partners are invited to attend Workshops and make presentations; please visit these Partner's websites for information on their services and resources:- Workforce Network presents information on its job search services and training assistance scholarships.
- Illinois Department of Employment Security explains unemployment insurance (UI) benefits;
- Illinois Central College explains its career services and training opportunities; and,
- AFL-CIO explains All Kids health insurance benefits, Cobra insurance, and the AFL-CIO Peer Counselor Outreach program.
