Services are available to the public at One Technology Plaza in downtown Peoria, Illinois and through satellite offices at Manual High School in Marshall, Stark and Woodford counties.

The 2009 Workforce Forum hosted keynote speaker Andrew Winston. 

Mr. Winston is a globally recognized expert on how business can profit from thinking green!  He is the co-author of the best-seller Green to Gold and author of Green Recovery, a guide to surviving - and thriving - in an economic downturn.

The 2009 Workforce Forum also featured an interactive panel discussion focused on the greening of education, careers and business strategy.  The expert panel included David Loomis, Ginger Johnson, Dr. Jack Gilligan and Carol Kulek.  You can view each panelist's presentation by clicking on their name.

    If you answered YES to all….

    then YouthBuild Peoria! may be the program for YOU!

YouthBuild Peoria! will provide individuals between the ages of 18 to 24, who meet eligibility criteria, with the opportunity to develop employment skills in construction while simultaneously attending the Tri-County Urban League for GED attainment. The training will be held in Peoria, 5 days a week from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm for approximately 9 to 12 months. Throughout the training participants will be compensated for their work through stipends.  Two groups of 24 participants (48 total) will be needed for the duration of the grant. However, a waitlist will be generated to take into consideration participant dropout, premature discharges, etc. Upon completion of the YouthBuild Peoria! program, graduates will receive support with obtaining employment or for applying for and transitioning to post-secondary education. Individuals that meet initial eligibility requirements will be invited to attend Mental Toughness activities during the week of January 4-8, 2009.  Following completion of Mental Toughness activities, those individuals selected will begin the YouthBuild Peoria! program on January 18, 2010.

 

** The YouthBuild Peoria! Program does require an initial drug screening of all applicants, and random drug testing of participants throughout the duration of the program.
